Escape to the beauty of Salt Spring Island. These special weekends will be held at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, where I am a senior teacher. Enjoy a ‘getaway’ for all levels. This rejuvenating weekend includes;
*two nights accommodation, or 3 nights for the May Long Weekend Retreat,
*delicious vegetarian cuisine,
*wood fired sauna everynight
*4 (6/May Long Weekend) yoga sessions, including a flow class to ‘live’ music (see Sunday schedule).
Each yoga session will include:
- Pranayama(Classical breathwork) We will focus on learning the “four purifications”. These breathing practises are designed to purify the whole body!
- Dhyana(meditation) We will explore 2 types of meditation practises.
- Asana (poses) Taught in “Hatha flow” style these multi-level classes will include sustained poses as well as postures that are connected together in a mindful and fluid progression with attention to alignment and breath. The Sunday session will include my specialty…’yoga flow to ‘live’ music’. You will love this!
Massage therapies available on request. Nurture yourself with wellness and beauty from an assortment of Ayurveda and bodywork sessions at our Wellness Sanctuary.
The quiet and serenity await you. Take time outdoors, hiking or exploring the Island shops, galleries and the famous Saturday outdoor market, or simply relax at the Centre, enjoying personal time in a serene setting. Find deep relaxation in our wood-burning sauna.
Schedule:
Friday afternoon/evening:
Check in between 3 pm and 6 pm. Have a cup of tea and make yourself at home.
For those who arrive in time I will offer a class from 4:45- 6:00
After a delicious meal and evening orientation, we will unwind with a session of soothing pranayama and a restfull (restorative) class designed to prepare you for sleep. Later, if desired, enjoy the wood-fired sauna before settling into bed.
Saturday: In the early morn there will be a selection of fruit and teas available.
We will start our Saturday morning yoga session at 8:00 am.
Brunch will be served at 10:30 am.
Spend the early afternoon outdoors, hiking or exploring the Ganges shops and Farmers Market. Or, relax at the Centre, read by the fire or pond, or stroll through the gardens and grounds.
For an additional cost, enjoy a private bodywork session at our Chikitsa Shala Wellness Centre.
Return in the late afternoon(3:45 pm) for our afternoon session. After dinner, indulge in a casual evening with homemade dessert and tea and an optional evening program.
Our morning yoga session will include our ‘live’ music flow class. I will guide you through a flow of poses while Vikash plays the Tamboura (stringed instrument), Dholak (drum) and sings. It is an awesome experience you will not forget. My Salt Spring students love it! After brunch and good-byes(Oct retreat), you’ll head for home refreshed, renewed and wishing you could stay a few more days! Rates below are per person and includes accommodation, all vegetarian meals, tea bar, wood-fired sauna.(Canadian Funds)(includes all taxes)
The tuition will be calculated seperately …. $150 for Oct Retreat or $200 for May Long Weekend

- Shared (3-4 persons….. $174. (Oct/2 nights) or $261(May long weekend/3 nights)
Shared (2 people)….. $194.(Oct/2 nights) or $291. (May long weekend/3 nights) - Commuter….(for those who don’t require accommodation)…$78. (Oct) or $117. (May)
- All rooms share a common bathroom (toilets, sinks and showers)
- Extended Stays…..are available (before of after the retreat) provided there are at least 4 people interested.
- Additional cost - If you would like to book an Ayurvedic or bodywork session, please call Chikitsa Shala Wellness Centre at least 72 hours in advance at 250-537-8443.

When Payment is Received:
Once I receive your payment, I will email a confirmation letter. A receipt will be available upon arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
Up to one month prior to your arrival date, your payment is refundable minus a $20 administration fee.
- Within one month and up to 7 days of your arrival date, you forfeit $50, and the balance is held as a credit for one year.
- Within 7 days of your arrival date, you forfeit $100.00, and the balance is held as a credit for one year.
- No refunds or credits are given if you cancel on the day of, or during a program.
- In the event that the Centre cancels a program due to insufficient registration, or unforeseeable events you will be notified 14 days prior to the start date and your fee will be refunded in full.
NOTE: Credits are transferrable with your written permission.
Bodywork or Ayurvedic Sessions:
To book or cancel bodywork or Ayurvedic sessions, please call the Chikitsa Shala Wellness Centre at least 48 hours in advance (250) 537-8443.
Food:
We serve a variety of healthy vegetarian meals. If you have any food allergies please let me know at least two weeks in advance of your stay.
What to Bring:
Please bring toiletries, comfortable clothing, slippers or indoor shoes, a bathrobe, bathing suit for sauna which is scheduled during cool seasons, walking shoes, flashlight, an alarm clock and rain clothes. Note: Our floors are used primarily for yoga classes; we do not wear outdoor shoes inside. We request that guests do not bring pets, alcohol, non-prescription drugs, or non-vegetarian food, or wear scented body products, as we want to provide a fragrance-free environment for all. Smoking is not permitted at the Centre, or on the grounds.
Note: Cell phone reception is not available at the Centre. A pay phone is offered for use.
Travel Information:
Nearest airports are Victoria and Vancouver. (Float planes are available right to SS Island) You might then rent a car or hop on a bus and make some ferry connections to our island. I can arrange to meet those of you that are coming on foot at the ferry terminal. Check the BC Ferries website for schedules.
