Yoga
I have been a yoga practitioner for thirty years and teaching yoga
since 2002. This year, 2010, I will reach 2000 hours of teaching time!
When I first discovered yoga in my early twenties, I loved the way it made me feel, peaceful and serene. That’s what hooked me. Since then I have kept a personal yoga practice. This was a challenge to fit in with pottery making (my ‘past’ profession for 30 years) and parenting 3 children.
My love of yoga and my deep appreciation for this system of mind /body interconnectedness has led me to teach this wonderful practice.
I am a now a senior teacher at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga where I help to teach future yoga teachers in their renowned Yoga Teacher Training Program. I teach at three studios on Salt Spring Island as well as teaching ten retreats a year. I received my training in Hatha and Classical Ashtanga Yoga at The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga. There, I received training in all aspects of yoga philosophy, science and spirituality under the personal guidance of life long master yogi and guru, Baba Hari Dass.
I have a passion for sharing the teachings and wisdom of this spiritual practice; the practice that has helped me with my life’s ups and downs. Yoga gives us methods or ‘tools’ for living a more balanced and contented life. These tools help us to honour our inner wisdom (guru). We will start to notice the beneficial effects immediately! Yoga keeps us supple and fit, giving us a youthful appearance and a calm state of mind.
We reap the benefits immediately!

My ‘Hatha’ teaching style includes sustained poses as well as postures that are connected together in a mindful and fluid progression (flow) with attention to alignment and breath. I encourage constant ‘triputi’; union of the three energies (mind, body and breath). Poses are modified for individual needs, helping all to find their own with this wonderful practise.
At my retreats I teach pranayama (breathwork), meditation and asana (poses)
To class, I bring compassion for my students and my deep love of yoga.
About my classes: Hatha-Flow
*A variety of asanas are taught offering students the opportunity to explore at their own level.
*Sustained poses are taught, as well as poses flowing in a mindful progression from one to another (Hatha Flow).
*Attention is always given to basic principals and alignment.
*Modifications are offered to help individuals understand and work with their own unique limitations.
*Mindfulness and focus on breath are an integral part of class.
*Classes are balanced with energy, to give you a good physical work-out, and calm, to keep you balanced.
The benefits of yoga are immediate.
We develop our yoga practise to last us the rest of our lives.
